An unusual girl
The story of a beautiful transexual
Louise Palmer-Rowe has those long shapely legs
that draw wolf-whistles from a hundred yards, and beautiful brown eyes
that captivate you close-up.
She has been engaged to a millionaire - a marriage she
called off - and worn fabulous designer frocks while being wined and
dined in the top restaurants of London. But until the age of 31,
Louise was what she describes as "a woman with a physical deformity" - she had a penis.
"I had never looked at myself as a male in any way
whatsoever", she said. "I was not someone who regarded myself as a
woman trapped in a man's body - I was a girl born with a penis, that's
all."
Louise was called Simon while being brought up in a
comfortable Newcastle family. When she was young her sex had seemed
unimportant to her, and she lived a fairly gender-free life up to the
age of eleven.
"It first hit me that something was wrong when I was
sent to secondary school", and the girls and boys had to wear different
uniforms. All the other girls were dressed in blue A-line skirts and
pinstriped blouses, but I had to be like the boys in their long
trousers and blazers. I hated it.
"I still played with the girls, I had so much more in
common with them, but I used to get teased rotten by the lads for
being a sissy. They seemed to think that I should be like them."
Things weren't much better at home. Louise's parents
already had one girl and they expected Louise to play the son's role
to the full. But she enjoyed reading girl's comics and playing with
dolls - hardly the 'chip off the old block' her dad had been hoping
for.
"I never got close to my dad because I just couldn't
be what he wanted me to be, but my mum has always been very
supportive. I think she understands that I never was a boy at all,
just an unusual girl."
Louise stayed on at school to do A-Levels, but
afterwards found it difficult to keep to any one job for long. Her
sexual condition led to a great deal of stress and anxiety, and any
chance of a career suffered as a result...
